Postdoctoral Researcher
Sarika Talve-Goodman received a Ph.D. in Literature in 2016 from the University of California, San Diego, specializing in cultural studies. She holds an M.S. in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University, as well as a B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University.  Her research areas include transnational modernism studies, American literature, disability studies, trauma studies, Jewish cultural studies, medical cultural studies, and critical theories of race, gender and sexuality. Her dissertation, "Cultural Scars: The Poetics of Trauma and Disability in 20th Century Transnational Jewish Cultural Production" explores the cross-implication of bodily and historical trauma in Jewish modernisms. Her postdoctoral research examines the roles of prisons and psychiatry in Cold War liberal and modernist cultural imaginaries—as well as in transnational activist discourses—focusing on flows of people, culture, and ideas between South Africa and the US.
