Professor Louise Bethlehem

“Miriam Makeba Sings in Hebrew: The History of a Controversy."

     Professor Louise Bethlehem is Associate Professor in the Department of English and Program of Cultural Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Louise has described herself as a “long-distance South African”. She maintains an active research presence in South Africa, where she has had a long association with WISER. In Israel, she was a member of the original group of scholars who successfully instituted the Inter-University Program in African Studies.
